- Han Misun (57, Ceramic Artist / Master Potter)
- Jung Hyuntae (58, Head of Strategic Operations, ROK Army)Suhyun tends to be shy around new people but would feel honored in the prospect of a new friendship. She believes that life has a lot to offer, nature as one of those things she loves to explore. On sunny days, she walks to get inspiration for her new piece, often wandering about different handcrafted stores to see what materials should she use and what persona should she craft next. Her projects involve evoking feelings that is only attainable by working on a material through and through to roughen the substance into one unique piece of emotion. She started drawing when she was young, often sketching quietly in the corners of her mother’s studio while the wheel spun and clay took shape. Her potential was obvious but her mother hesitated. She knew the quiet ache that often lived inside artists, the endless pursuit of something just out of reach. She didn’t want that weight for her daughter. And yet, when Suhyun began to show a deep, almost obsessive focus in her work—revisiting the same sketchbooks, refining the same shapes, exploring shadow and composition with growing complexity...her mother shifted. She didn’t push, but she listened. She watched. And slowly, she began to nurture that spark, offering quiet encouragement and guidance, always careful not to define Suhyun’s path, but to give her the space to find it on her own.More:( - ) she tends to go on a sugar high when under pressure, particularly if she hasn't found the inspiration for her next piece. she loves banana milk in this regard, the subtle taste of flavor boosts her whenever possible.( - ) she grew up with a varying discipline from her mother who nurtures her extra-curricular activities and her father who was very strict on her main academics. she grew up partially hating school because of dyslexia so she tends to draw on her books instead of reading them, which earned her scolding from time to time.( - ) after graduating from ewha university, she was offered a teaching assistantship by her mentor, who let her teach freshmen sculpting students in materials and history of sculpting. ended in 2020 when she moved to london to study. she came back to korea on november 2024.( - ) she volunteers to teach kids how to draw on the weekends (whenever she's free). she likes being busy; often caring for stray cats because she couldn't take them home, help out community elderly people and do what she can to provide an act of service.( - ) she hates being on idle, including watching movies or anything that would force her to sit for a couple of hours and focus. she does watch a couple of animated series with her friends.( - ) her inspiration comes in different forms, to name a few: jaume barba's kiss of death, psyche revived by cupid's kiss by antonio canova, sleeping hermaphrodite on the bed, altar to mars and venus..., etc.
The Book of Su
The Book of Su: is a diary carved in wood; a record of still moments that remind me to listen to the world breathing around me. Each sculpture holds a fragment of life: a conversation with nature, a trace of passing time, a glimpse of who I am becoming. These pieces are not just about form, but feeling and an ongoing attempt to find balance between the hands that shape and the heart that remembers.I drew a lot of inspiration from The Little Prince, with its quiet philosophy of life, wonder, love and connection, and tried to create a way to show how tender life is through my eyes and convey the liberty of this journey through the sculptures you see today.I appreciate you coming and experiencing this exhibit with me. Thank you!
SENSE AND SUBSENSES
WELCOME!Join us in an immersive journey through wooden sculptures that embody the fluid connection between nature and the passage of time. Each piece invites you to explore the subtle interplay between organic forms and the essence of impermanence.Artist Statement:
Sense and Subsenses delves into the unseen rhythms of nature — the quiet pulse of time embedded in wood. These sculptures reflect how nature's raw beauty converges with human perception, creating an intimate dialogue between the tangible and the ethereal.

To my friends and family,
Thank you for always being so patient, and accepting my chaos as it is.To Beokki,
Thank you for meeting me in the in-between.
the notes i filled of you.

Beokki,It’s been a while since I wrote to you, right? I remember the last was probably in high school, and after that, I don’t remember if I ever wrote to you again. I’m babbling, but because everything feels weird right now. Weird is a good thing, right? Because then you know you exist, if you feel something different, something you’re not used to but see, this weird feeling is more of the realization that I’ve just been ignoring that feeling and I don’t know what to do with it.When you receive this, I’m probably not there with you because I’m scared to see your reaction. At first I thought of telling you in person but I realized that I’m a coward and I’ve always been, at least when it comes to this. So I apologize if this seems insincere, but truthfully, I just couldn’t seem to draw the feeling away, this feels so much more than what I could convey. From when we met I distinctly remember how close we’ve gotten, you were that kid who accompanied your mom to our house whenever we needed her service and with that, our friendship grew. You would share your toys, you were interested in my art, you would share your snacks and even give me my tiny cakes for my birthday. You never forget to check on me when you believe something is wrong and you never press, unless I’d let you, but you were there, you know when to exist and when to exist with me.High school was different because we met more people. We grew closer but also a little bit apart, our personalities differ from when we were children, our hobbies grew, our dreams expanded from within our world to the outside where we could see more stars above our heads and the infinite sky. Now that I’m thinking this far back, I think this was where I felt like I lost you for the first time.I was scared to learn that we grew apart and I remember being defiant about it. We did so much together, we shared so much about each other and one day it felt like you started sharing it with another. For the longest time, I thought that feeling was just losing you, and I’ve shared a life with you up until that point and it didn’t occur to me, or well, I guess I was pushing the thought away that maybe, around that time, I knew that you meant more to me than just being my best friend.God, my fingers are shaking a little as I write this. I wasn’t able to actually think and feel this much until I decided to learn about this whole thing. Maybe the reason why I couldn’t seem to feel compatible with anybody else, even when I try to, is because wherever I go, whatever I do, that part of me always belongs with you.Life is funny, you know? The past year and a half, I learned more about myself than all of the years I’ve existed. I learned that I hate sour treats, and anything doused with spicy oil, but I love spicy food.I learned that I have always been in love with you, and as much as I don’t want to admit it, it’s true. And sometimes it consumes me, believing that we will never be more than just friends and honestly, that’s totally fine with me. But I’ve let go of you multiple times without ever letting you know how I feel so I’m writing this because I know I can’t say much in front of you.I love you, Haewon. I’ve always been in love with you.Maybe not constantly, maybe not in a linear fashion, but that love never left.I tried with other people, I fell in love with other people, I consumed that feeling with other people, and it wasn’t as if I didn’t try to forget about you. I have, multiple times, and I fail, every single time.At first I thought we were just going back to the way we were as children, we played a lot, we created things, we were rowdy kids. I connected with you again as if nothing came in between us and I was so scared of losing this, and losing you as a result. So I compromised by hiding. By running away, by pretending nothing is going on, as if my whole life, I’ve never wanted to scream your name as if you were mine to have. But now the cat is out of the bag.The more I spend time with you, the more I grow fond of you, attached to the idea that maybe, just if we want to, maybe we can make this work. I don’t know what lies tomorrow, or the day after, but at least I know I don’t want to be cowardly anymore.I’m not too late, am I?
